What is Chia?
Chia seeds comes from the seeds of the flowers on the Lamiaceae plant which belongs in the mint family. They grow naturally in Mexico and Bolivia.
Chia a high-fiber, high-protein, and high-omega-3-fatty-acid food. Chia seeds are low in cholesterol and sodium, but high in antioxidants, and are also good sources of potassium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, and manganese. And what’s good for our insides is often good for our outsides as well.
What is Chia good for?
Chia seed oil helps increase skin hydration, temporarily alleviate itchy skin, and fortify skin barrier function, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and leaving skin soft and smooth.
Chia seed oil is also a great source of vitamin B3 and zinc. The antioxidants in chia seed oil have shown to be even stronger than vitamin C and vitamin E.
Chia seed is considered the richest source of omega-3 fatty acids found in nature. These fatty acids plumps the skin and help to maintain moisture levels.
What is special about our Chia?
Our Chia seed oil is unique. We use certified organic grown chia seeds from local farmers in Bolivia. Bolivia is the area where Chia is naturally grown, and because they grow where they "belong", the oil from these seeds are very rich in vitamins and minerals!
The oil is pressed locally here in Norway - the oil has to be filtered several times over several days, so it's hard work, but we like to have completely fresh oil that gives us control so that we can offer the best chia seed oil possible! The oil is also food-grade.
